You’ve probably heard that you should meditate. Maybe you’ve tried it, found your mind wandering after thirty seconds, and quietly decided it just wasn’t for you.
The Big Calm is here to change that.
In this 2.5-hour workshop, I’ll cut through the noise, bust the myths, and show you what meditation really is — and what it isn’t. Whether you’ve never sat in stillness before, or you have an existing practice that feels a little stuck, this evening is for you.
We’ll explore what meditation actually does to your brain and body, how to fit it into ordinary life, and why you don’t need to be spiritual, flexible, or particularly calm to begin.
Myths we’ll bust on the night:
“You have to empty your mind” The mind thinks — that’s its job. Meditation isn’t about stopping your thoughts. We’ll explore what it actually means to meditate.
“I don’t have time” Even a few minutes changes everything. We’ll look at how to build a practice that works around your actual life.
“It’s a spiritual thing — not for me” Meditation has thousands of years of tradition behind it and decades of science in front of it. You can come to it from wherever you are.
“I tried it and I’m just not good at it” Nobody is bad at meditation. We’ll unpack why it might not have clicked before — and what to try differently.
What meditation actually does:
The research is extraordinary. A regular practice can reduce stress and anxiety, improve your sleep, sharpen your focus, support emotional balance, lower blood pressure, and build a quiet but powerful self-awareness. These aren’t abstract promises — they’re measurable, documented, and available to anyone who practises.

This evening is for you if you’re completely new to meditation and don’t know where to start — or if you’ve tried it before and felt like you were doing it wrong. It’s for you if you already have a practice but want to deepen your understanding, or if you simply want to feel calmer, clearer, and more in control of your inner world. No experience necessary. No special equipment. Just come as you are.
